Funnels Galore

A customisable parametric funnel design.

Parametric Funnel

Details

This design is parametric, which essentially means the dimensions are not hard coded into the model, but can be specified via parameters. This allows you create many different kinds of designs from basically the same model. The variables are described in the table below. If you want to create your own funnel, you will need to create yourself a free OnShape account and then simply copy the workspace. The variables are on the left handside and are prefixed with (x).

Variable Description
LipDiameter The diameter of the funnel’s lip. This is the part that the precedes the conical section
LipHeight How high you want this lip to be
ConeDiameter This is starting diameter of the conical section and will be tapered towards the starting diameter of the tube
ConeHeight The height or if you prefer, the depth of the conical section
TubeStartDiameter This is the start diameter of the tube section. It will be tapered to wards the end diameter. This value is generally larger than the end value, but doesn’t have to be
TubeEndDiameter This is the end diameter of the tube section.
TubeHeight: The height or if you prefer, the length of the tube section of the funnel
TipChamfer If you want the edge of the funnel to have an angled chamfer, specify how far down the tube the slice will take place. If you want a flat tip, just specify 0
HookDiameter If you want your funnel to have a section that can be placed on a hook, you can specify the size here. If no hook section is required, set it to 0
HookHoleDiameter: This specifies the size of the hole in the hook section. If you don’t want a hook section then set it to 0
WallThickness Specifies how thick you want the walls of the funnel to be
