AmiyCoders contains a yEnc encoder (AmiyEnc) and a yEnc decoder (AmiyDec) for the Amiga. At the time it was written, it was the only natively available encoder and decoder for AmigaOS, although that’s probably changed since. It is able to handle single part and multi part encodings, with or without CRC32 checksums and whether or not the encoding is embedded.
yEnc is an encoding method which offers efficient and proper transmission of binaries over Usenet, Email and similar media. It is similar in principle to Base64 or UUencode but is usually more efficient because of various tricks it employs.

Thermometer is a small command line program for the Amiga, which is capable of reading the temperature of SCSI hard disks which have sensors. It supports all three temperature readings which hard disks use: Current Temperature, Reference Temperature, Most Recent Temperature Reading.

Downloads

Download

Version

Description

thermometer.lha

v0.3

AmigaOS Binaries & Installer (Released: ~2005)

thermometer_src.zip

v0.3

Amiga E Source Code (requires Q-Devices source)

It attempts to automatically download files for the user in a ‘fire & forget’ manner using HTTP or FTP. It has an extensive AREXX scripting interface, which allows it to be integrated with almost any application, such as web browsers, email clients, irc clients etc. Various prebuilt AREXX scripts are supplied to integrate Go Fetch! with other software.

MAX'S BBS Doors

MAX’s BBS was very popular dial-up bulletin board software largely in use before the internet became so ubiquitous. Bulletin Boards were online services accessed via a telephone number using a modem.
The user was presented with a menu system based around ANSI or occasionally RIP graphics and could download files, play games, read mail or chat with other users. For a more in depth explanation see
the BBS definition on Wikipedia. During the 90s I ran a BBS called “The Jelly Zone” which originally ran on MAX’s BBS but later changed to running Zeus. In that time I wrote several doors for MAX’s
to extend its functionality. Most of the doors are written in Amiga E or AMOS Basic. I wrote many more than are presented here, but unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately!) they’ve suffered from bit-rot and vanished.

SCSI and IDE devices contain pages of information which describes the device’s features, modes of operation and diagnostic status. In many cases these pages are configurable to allow the user or the manufacturer to tweak the device’s operation. Q-Device! is capable of decoding much of this information and presenting it to the user. Experimental support was written for a pseudo-device driver which allowed Q-Device to directly query SCSI/IDE devices of other machines on the network. It requires the qdd daemon which I wrote in C, to be running on the remote machine. Support was written for both Linux and Solaris and although it worked, it never really went beyond the experimental stage. It’s primary use was to allow me to test q-device against many more devices without having to physically connect and disconnect them from the Amiga.

It patches the ColdReboot() function to open a requester asking the user whether they want to allow or deny the reboot. Unfortunately it cannot trap reboots triggered by the keyboard or reset button as these are hardware resets, which probably helps to make it even less useful. :)

Downloads

Download

Version

Description

rebootpatch.lha

v1.0

AmigaOS Binaries (Released: 1997)

rebootpatchsrc.lha

v1.0

Amiga E Source Code
